Sandpoint is a "tree city," and not just with the indigenous species that populate the forests surrounding town. In town there's a remarkable diversity of species, and this 40-page, four-color booklet is a concise, beautifully illustrated guide to 32 of the the finest trees in Sandpoint.
The Sandpoint Tree Committee worked many months to create "Outstanding Trees of Sandpoint, Idaho," with the goal of fostering appreciation of the town's arboreal assets and capturing their history.
The booklet features photos of each tree along with a map that details the trees' locations, so that readers can take their own self-guided tour of the outstanding trees. The selection of trees includes eight species of conifers and four species of maples, as well as 20 other trees which show the diversity of trees that can be grown in Sandpoint. In addition to providing a walking guide to view Sandpoint's most interesting trees, the booklet offers homeowners choosing trees to plant an excellent resource to see many varied species that thrive here.
The City of Sandpoint has been a member of Tree City USA since 1996.
