Do you have a great photo taken here in northern Idaho? Share it with the world on SandpointOnline.com's Sandpoint in Pictures page. Your subject matter can be anything relevant to Sandpoint and northern Idaho - a beautiful scene, a local event, a breaking news photo, people shots, a creative composition or anything that provides a glimpse of life in northern Idaho. As Sandpoint in Pictures is intended to give a snapshot of current happenings around our town, the only rule is that the photo must have been taken within Bonner and Boundary counties within the previous three weeks.

Not only will you enjoy seeing your photo on Sandpoint Online, but each month our editors will review all the photos submitted and used during the month to choose a "Pick of the Month," with the winner receiving a prize of movie tickets, dinner out, tickets to Sandpoint events, local books or other fine items.

Here's how to submit a photo:

• You can submit any photo taken in Bonner or Boundary counties of northern Idaho, shot within three weeks of publication. Photos are selected for use based on content (does it provide a good snapshot of life around here?), technical quality (is it in focus and properly exposed?) and/or artistic merit (is it well composed; does it capture an interesting scene or moment in time?). Please note that photos of pets or family members aren’t good candidates, unless the photo has an unusual composition, or the subject is engaged in activities that provide that “snapshot of life around here.”
• Save your photo in JPEG format only, please, with a maximum file size of 2 MB.
• E-mail it to us at [email protected]. Submit ONLY one photo per e-mail you send us. We'll acknowledge receipt with a reply e-mail.
• Please also include 30-50 words or so of the "story" of your photo: When (exact date) and where it was taken, why the scene or event caught your eye, and any relevant bits of information that might be of interest to viewers.
• You must provide your name, mailing address, phone number and e-mail reply-to address.
• Alternatively, you may copy your photo onto a CD and mail or drop it by the Sandpoint Online offices at Keokee Publishing, 405 Church St., Sandpoint, ID 83864.
• Photographers are also welcome to include a blurb on their camera set-up, type of camera and lens used, and the f stop.
• During the first week of each month, Sandpoint Online's editors and designers review all photos used during the preceding month on our Sandpoint in Pictures page and select one "Pick of the Month" to receive a prize. Photos will be judged on technical quality, composition, creative expression and relevance to life in Sandpoint and northern Idaho.

Here are the conditions for use of all photos submitted for Sandpoint in Pictures:

• Because all photos submitted to Sandpoint Online are protected by copyright law, we can only use photos submitted by the actual copyright holder -- that is, the photographer who took it -- or by his or her authorized agent.
• By submitting your photo you agree to its publication on SandpointOnline.com or other Sandpoint or North Idaho websites published by Keokee Co. Publishing, Inc. Each photographer will continue to own all rights to his or her photo, but by submitting it for use in Sandpoint in Pictures you agree to provide Keokee Co. Publishing, Inc., a license for use on its websites indefinitely.
• Keokee Co. Publishing, Inc., also publishes Sandpoint Magazine, books and publications, and frequently uses photos in those print publications. If you submit a photo that we at any time want to use in print publications, we'll contact you and ask for an additional license for use. Depending on the size and type of use, we pay $10 to $50 for use in our print publications.
