One judge said, "Jay Mock's mastery of macro photography is perfectly represented in this close-up of a detailed, miniscule insect resting near a cedar leaf." 

The photographer wrote: "I found this bug today, one of the first ones outside the house. They're here before all the snow's even gone. If you notice, this is a very tiny bug. It's about 0.12 inch. The brown object is a cedar leaf." Taken March 15.
