Sandpoint man to help in Nepal
Moskovitz part of medical support team

SANDPOINT, ID--Local business owner and volunteer firefighter, Andrew Moskovitz, leaves on a medical search and rescue mission in the next 10 days to offer immediate assistance in the Langtang region of Nepal. Moskovitz, part of an 8-person team, was brought together in direct response to a Nepalian incident commander's request for medical support.

Working with the Nepalese government and the USAR, Moskovitz’s US based team will focus on immediate medical support and children’s safety.

"Due to the lack of supplies, hospital space and qualified assistance, there are people dying daily," said Moskovitz. "It's crucial we step in."

Moskovitz, certified paramedic and volunteer firefighter, moved to Sandpoint in December 2014 as a partner in a young adults therapeutic program, Venture Transitions. He is asking members of the community to come together and offer supply or financial donations toward the setup of a remote clinic.

"We encourage our clients to volunteer multiple hours per week in the community," said Moskovitz. "You may find them at the local animal shelter or coaching a special Olympics team. This time, we are asking the community to come together and offer the Nepalese much needed support. Whether it's trekking supplies, $10 or $1,000, no donation is too small. Everything helps."

To donate, please write a check payable to Andrew Moskovitz with "Nepal Trip 2015" in the memo.
