Voters give thumbs-up to LPOSD levy by 56 percent margin

Voters in the Lake Pend Oreille School District approved the proposed 2-year, $12.7 million per year supplemental levy Tuesday, with 56.2 percent voting in favor.

With all 34 precincts reporting the levy was approved with 3,391 voting in favor and 26,43 opposed.

The voter turnout of 6,037 out of 19,470 registered voters in the district represented a 31 percent voter turnout. Voter turnout was down substantially from the last supplemental levy election in March 2017, when there were 7,797 votes tallied. The 2017 levy also was approved by a larger margin, with 64 percent approval.

In Priest River, voters in the West Bonner School District 83 rejected the proposed $3 million per year levy. The vote was 536 in favor, 769 opposed - a margin of 58.9 percent opposed of the total 1305 votes tallied.
