Here's what's happening in April!

28: $5 Movie: Field of Dreams. When Iowa farmer Ray (Kevin Costner) hears a mysterious voice one night in his cornfield saying "If you build it, he will come," he feels the need to act. Despite taunts of lunacy, Ray builds a baseball diamond on his land, supported by his wife, Annie (Amy Madigan). Afterward, the ghosts of great players start emerging from the crops to play ball, led by "Shoeless" Joe Jackson. But, as Ray learns, this field of dreams is about much more than bringing former baseball greats out to play. Come see it for only $5 at the Panida, 300 N. 3 Kendal Mountain Tour 2024. Kendal Mountain Tour is Britain's biggest adventure film festival. This is the second year the film tour has made its way overseas to the Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave., with a collection of seven mountain, cultural, and adventure films for 2024. Show starts at 7 p.m. with doors opening 1 hour before the show. Get tickets at Panida.org.

4: $5 Movie: American Fiction. Monk is a frustrated novelist who's fed up with the establishment that profits from Black entertainment that relies on tired and offensive tropes. To prove his point, he uses a pen name to write an outlandish Black book of his own, a book that propels him to the heart of hypocrisy and the madness he claims to disdain. 11: $5 Movie: Little Women. In the years after the Civil War, Jo March lives in New York and makes her living as a writer, while her sister Amy studies painting in Paris. Amy has a chance encounter with Theodore, a childhood crush who proposed to Jo but was ultimately rejected. Their oldest sibling, Meg, is married to a schoolteacher, while shy sister Beth develops a devastating illness that brings the family back together. Show will be held at the Panida, 300 N.
