Here's what's happening in May

13 Clark Fork: Painted Birdhouses. join from 2-4 p.m. at the Clark Fork Library where you can paint your own pre-made wooden birdhouses to take home.

13 Bonner County Amateur Radio Club (BCARC) Meeting. Anyone that has an interest in amateur radio is welcome. Meetings are on the second Wednesday of each month from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 1325 Pine St. k7jep.org.

13 Registration Deadline: Garden Flower Art with Dave Gonzo. In this class students will learn shop safety, proper use/care of tools and processes/ techniques with demonstration. They will be using the Oxyacetylene torch and welding rod to create 3- dimensional art. The first half of the class will be practicing shaping metal with the torch as well as welding pieces together. In the second portion of the class students will create a sculpture that they will be able to take home. Class will be held on May 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. $72. Learn more or register here.

14 Chamber Luncheon. Register for the May Chamber Luncheon where you can enjoy a great meal and connect with fellow business leaders at the Marigold Bistro, 414 Church St. from 11:30-1 p.m. 11:30 a.m. will be networking with the luncheon held from noon to 1 p.m. starring guest speaker Joe Lewis of the Ice Age Floods Institute on "The Ice Age Floods Story". 15 Application Deadline for Good Neighbors Fencing Project. Applications for the Good Neighbors Fencing Project open May 1, providing 3 fences at no cost to local community members to help keep pets safely at home. This collaboration between BTAA, Cedar Hills Church, and Humble & Black Real Estate will complete the builds during Cedar Hills' "Serve Sandpoint" event on June 14. Interested community members must apply by May 15 online at bettertogetheranimalalliance.org or in person at the Bonner Community Food Bank or BTAA's Animal Care Center.

15 Application Deadline: 2026 Swim Instructors and Assistants Needed. Apply by Friday, May 15, 2026. Paid Lead and Assistant Swim Instructors are needed for the Pend Oreille FREE swim lesson program, running Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. the weeks of July 27 (Springy Point near Sagle) and August 3, 10, and 17 (Riley Creek near Laclede). Training provided; no lifeguard certification required. Teens ages 13�17 are encouraged to apply. Email water_safety@PORPA.org.

16 Non-Partisan Public Voter Education Event. Are you prepared to vote in May 19th Primary? Have questions? Get more information before voting by visiting the One Million Rising table outside Sandpoint Farmers' Market (Oak & 4th Streets) during the first three Saturdays in May from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enter a free drawing for a chance to win a gift card from LaChic Boutique! 16 Bats: Big Eaters with a Bad Reputation. KNPS welcomes Carrie Hugo, Bureau of Land Management Wildlife Biologist, for a talk on bats. This multimedia presentation will emphasize North American and North Idaho bats and their ecological roles, habitat requirements and conservation needs. Coffee, tea, treats and socializing at 9:30 a.m. Hugo's presentation begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Sandpoint Community Hall, 204 S. First Ave.

Cultural practices such as cover cropping, and composting will ensure balanced nutrition of your soil in the long run, and organic amendments will help your garden thrive. 31 Learn Your Neighborhood Herbs. Meet at the Pine Street Woods, 11915 W. Pine St. from 2 to 5 p.m. for a foraging experience led by Meryl Kastin. **2 Injectors Car Club Meeting. Join the injectors for their monthly meet up at Serv-A-Burger, 907 Fifth Ave. It all starts with a social hour and optional dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a brief meeting at 7 p.m. This gathering brings together car enthusiasts of every kind, from daily drivers to classics and customs. It's a relaxed evening of car talk, familiar faces, and good company, where the conversations last longer than the agenda. Look forward to this the first Tuesday of every month (March-Nov).

3 Citizen Science. Join at the Waterlife Discovery Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on alternating Wednesdays for hands-on science and bird watching with Master Naturalists.

12-18 Young Adults Explore Buddhism. Experience a transformative week of living and learning with renowned Buddhist teacher and author Venerable Thubten Chodron during this residential course for young adults (ages 18�29) from  3 p.m. June 12 thru 10 a.m. on June 18. Set across acres of forest, the program integrates meditation, teachings, and discussions on current issues with mindful outdoor work�no prior experience is required, only an open mind.
