Join fellow chess enthusiasts for this one-day tournament. The tournament uses the Swiss system and is coordinated by James Stripes. Bring a lunch and be ready to play all day. Enjoy a discounted day of skiing while supporting a great community cause as part of Schweitzer's annual Community Day on Friday, March 29. Which explains why he's roughed up and has his precious rug peed on. In search of recompense, The Dude tracks down his namesake, who offers him a job. His wife has been kidnapped and he needs a reliable bagman. Aided and hindered by his pals Walter Sobchak, a Vietnam vet, and Donny, master of stupidity. Snowghost Banked SlalomSnow Ghost Banked Slalom
Get up to Schweitzer Mountain on Saturday/Sunday, March 30-31 and join in on a traditional hand dug banked slalom comp. 7B and Schweitzer have teamed up with Bonner County Skatepark Association making this event a fundraiser for Sandpoint's skatepark expansion plan. 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly back into the Bonner County Skatepark Assoc. expansion plans. Here's what's happening in March!

**Registration for North Idaho Volleyball Club Outdoor Beach Clinics.  Being held at the Sandpoint City Beach sand courts, your athlete can join in on the fun. The Juniors program is open for female athletes who will be beginning grades 7-12, and the 1st Digs program is for all male and female athletes who will be beginning grades 3-6 this 2024 fall school year. 27 Live Piano with Bob Beadling. Pend d'Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St. invites you to experience an evening of contemporary and popular music with Bob Beadling on the piano from 5-7 p.m.

28 registration deadline: CPR/AED with Optional First Aid. For ages 16 to adult, or ages 12-15 with an adult guardian. American Health and Safety Institute's CPR/AED with optional First Aid is a general community course for persons with little to no medical training, who need CPR/AED and/or First Aid card for work, OSHA requirements, school, or personal knowledge. Classes are offered every other month on the first Monday. Classes will be held at the Sandpoint City Hall Council Chambers from 4-6 p.m. for CPR/AED, and 6-8 p.m. for First Aid. Fee is $35 CPR/AED, with additional $25 First Aid option.

31 Camp Kaniksu Lottery Registration End Date. Like always, there will be six weeks of camp with sessions for kids 6-17. There will be two teen expedition camps with paddle trips on Upper Priest Lake for adventurers aged 13-17, 2 overnight camps for ages 9-12 and day camp for ages 6-8. 1-4 Kicking into Spring Break Soccer Camp. Happening at the indoor arena located at the Bonner County Fairgrounds. Get a jump on the season without the worry of weather. Registration is open and spots are limited. Cost is $90 and you can register on the SSA website here. Director of Soccer Operations, Bill Williams, will direct the camp with help from current NIC players.

2 Live Piano with Sean Bostrom. The Pend d'Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St., welcomes Sean Bostrom, an accomplished pianist and music educator. Prepare for Bostrom to put on a beautiful show.

3 Live Piano with Annie Welle. Come and enjoy some lively, professional jazz piano with Annie Welle at the Pend d'Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St. from 5-7 p.m.

4 Live Music with the Cafe Gas Boys. Connie's Cafe & Lounge, 323 Cedar St., invites you to check out live music with The Cafe Gas Boys and their bluegrass stylings at 6:30 p.m.

6 Backpacking 101. The Idaho Trails Association (ITA) will be hosting a free, three-hour class from 2-5 p.m. about backpacking for beginners and seasoned hikers alike. You will be taught the basics of backpacking from this shop in Sagle. You will learn the general differences in backpacks and other gear, what to carry for an overnight trip up to a week-long trip, how to pack a backpack, tips for making loads lighter, and how to stay safe in the backcountry. 6-7 Sandpoint Home & Garden show. This event will be held at the Bonner County Fairgrounds, 4203 N. Boyer Rd. NIBCA Home and Garden Show bring homeowners together with the area's top building experts and remodelers. Event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 6, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on April 7. 9 Winemakers Education and Tasting. Join Pend d'Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St. for this evening with their winemakers as they take you on a journey of POW wines. 10 Live Piano with Dwayne Parsons. Take in this extraordinary performance by Dwayne Parsons on the grand piano from 5-7 p.m. at the Pend d'Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St.

11 Artist Reception & Live Music with Matt Lome. Stop in to meet the Pend d'Oreille Winery Artist of the month, Matt Lome. He is an illustrative painter with a flair for storytelling. 12 Lightwire Theater: Dino Light. In this original storyline, a famous scientist with magic powers brings a friendly dinosaur to life. This glow-in-the-dark adventure is visually amazing, and has been praised for its cutting-edge blend of puppetry, technology, and dance. 12 Contra Dance. Dance your heart out to live music and meet your neighbors. Prior dancing experience is not necessary, and all ages are welcome. Beginners are encouraged to arrive on time for intro lessons at 7 p.m. Please bring non-marking shoes to dance in. There is a suggested donation of $5 and the dances will be held at Sandpoint Community Hall, 204 First Ave., from 7-10 p.m.

13 Natural Connections. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. stop by the Sandpoint Library, 1407 Cedar St. to participate in a selection of gardening workshops. Starting at 10 a.m. check out Understanding our climate and planning for a successful garden presented by  University of Idaho Extension Educator, Jennifer Jensen. At 12 p.m. learn more about seed saving and the library with Idaho Master Gardeners volunteer, Elizabeth Strube and Garden Coordinator & Seed Librarian, Kelli Burt. At 1 p.m. get introduced to how to Successfully start seeds with presenter Jennifer Jensen and Elizabeth Strube. 13 Ponderay Rotary's Grin it to Win it. Enjoy this open-air photo booth from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and take home a fun Schweitzer Mountain memory while getting a chance to win a season pass. Tickets are $20 for the photo booth, which also equals an entry into the Rotary's Schweitzer season pass raffle - happening promptly at 1 p.m. that day near the clocktower. Kids can also play Buck a Duck in the patio and take home some fun prizes. The proceeds benefit Rotary's Educational Scholarship Program and the community health and wellness programs.

16-May 7 Intro to Youth Archery Class. For kids aged 10-16. Come and participate in an introduction to youth archery at the Farragut Shooting Center, 33644 N. Shooters Rd, Athol. This 4-week series will set you up for success. Taught by USA Archery Coach, John Sikkas, who is also a certified Fish and Game Hunter & Bowhunter Education Instructor, and NRA Certified Range Safety Officer. Bows, arrows, and targets will be provided. Sessions will be held on Tuesday afternoons from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on April 16, 23, 30, and May 7. The cost to participate is $40, and registration is required and can be done here. There are only ten spots available.

17 Live Piano with Peter Lucht. Peter is at home on the grand piano at Pend d'Oreille Winery, 301 Cedar St. Settle in for some tunes from 5-7 p.m.

17 Student Safety Summit. Get over to the Sandpoint High School starting at 5:30 p.m. for this parent education forum aimed to protect our students as they navigate modern risks. Local law enforcement experts will cover suicide awareness, parent resources, social media and app trends, sextortion, and drugs in our community. Dinner and childcare will be provided. 

18 Small Town, Big Vision Film Fest. Project 7B announces their first-ever film fest, to be held at the Heartwood, 615 Oak St. They're joining forces with APA Idaho to show educational films appropriate for anyone who wants to learn more about land use, planning, and how to build better communities. Doors open at 5 p.m., and films go until 9 p.m. Entry is free, and there will be a raffle. Come learn, join the discussion, and have some fun!

24 MarchFourth at the Panida. Join in for a night of fun with MarchFourth. A colorful explosion of brassy funk, rock, and jazz is all about the groove. This is a larger-than-life group of 15 musicians, dancers, and acrobats who will bring the spirit of celebration with them. Expect dancing at this GA show. Show will be at the Panida, 300 N. 27 Drum with Rhythm Boomers. On Saturday mornings, make your way to the Historic Pearl Theater, 7160 Ash St. in Bonners Ferry at 10 a.m. to participate in a drumming circle. Percussion toys are provided. Congas, bongos, cajons, shakers, tone sticks, and more. Free.

27 Live Music with Suspicious PKG. Connie's Cafe & Lounge, 323 Cedar St., invites you to check out live music with Suspicious PKG starting at 6 p.m.

27 Swinging in the Rain Dance. Doors open at 6:45 p.m., and starting at 7 p.m. will be a one hour lesson on the basics of East Coast Swing followed by general dancing from 8-10 p.m. Dance will be held at the Sandpoint Community Hall, 204 S. First Ave. There will be refreshments, door prizes, and fun. Couples, singles, and dancers of all levels are welcome. Cash at the door $8/person.

27 Sandpoint Onstage presents: Sherlock. Sandpoint Onstage premieres a BBC-style 1900s original Sherlock adventure on the main stage of the Panida Theater, 300 N. First Ave. An evening of mystery, comedy, and emotional complexity by Sandpoint playwright Teresa Pesce awaits you.
