Lost in the '50sLost in the '50s
A longtime Sandpoint tradition, Lost in the '50s returns the third weekend of May with a full lineup of classic cars, cruising, music and community events. Festivities begin Thursday, May 14, with a Welcome Party at Connie's Cafe from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 15, features Cars and Coffee from 9-11 a.m., hosted by the Idaho club with coffee and donuts, followed by the annual Cruise and Parade at 6 p.m. and a Street Party near the city parking lot and fountain. On Saturday, May 16, classic and custom vehicles will line First, Second and Third avenues for the popular car show. Friday and Saturday evenings also bring old-time rock and roll concerts to the Bonner County Fairgrounds, with Rocky and the Rollers performing Friday for reunion night and Chubby Checker taking the stage Saturday. 11 Heightened Scrutiny Screening. Check out a free special screening of the film Heightened Scrutiny at the Sandpoint United Methodist Church, 711 Main St. at 6 p.m. The film follows civil rights lawyer Chase Strangio as he prepares to present his case to the Supreme Court for transgender adolescents' right to access to gender-affirming healthcare. The film confronts both the legal system and the media landscape that distorts public perception and threatens the struggle for trans rights. Brought to you by the Bonner County Human Rights Task Force and the Sandpoint Alliance for Equality.

12 POAC ArtWalk. Join POAC's annual Art Walk. Local artisans, galleries, and business owners throughout downtown Sandpoint collaborate each summer for an event designed to showcase all that our unique town has to offer. 20 CHAFE 150. Sandpoint Rotary presents the Annual CHAFE 150 Gran Fondo, named one of the top charity rides in the U.S.! The ride takes place in Sandpoint, Idaho, the "Most Beautiful Small Town in the USA." The 150 mile route is a grand loop around the Cabinet Mountains. CHAFE offers magnificent 100, 80, 40, and 30 mile routes, and a family fun ride for riders of any level! 30 IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild. This event returns to Schweitzer Mountain from 3 to 4:30 p.m., featuring pianist Hunter Noack performing on a 9-foot Steinway grand with audio delivered via wireless headphones as guests take in scenic mountain views. Access to the site requires a chairlift ride (last ride down at 5 p.m.) or a strenuous 2.5-mile hike. Bring low-back chairs or blankets, and feel free to pack a picnic or purchase food onsite.
